J. Vincent

Positive light shines through dark times when a young man analyzes himself, his past relationships, and the world around him. Thoughts & ideas are transcended into reality through waves of raw, bluesy, country, folk, rock & roll music recorded at home in a closet.

The album “Roots” began as an idea and transcended itself into tangible thoughts and expressions (music) within a span of three years. J. Vincent wrote all of the original songs from the album within those three years while working part-time, attaining a college degree, and learning how to live away from home. At each apartment he moved into during his college career J. Vincent turned his closets into a personal recording studio. He used whatever instruments he could get his hands on or briefly learn how to play to make sounds that made sense to him. J. Vincent built a suitcase kick drum (inspired by Shakey Graves) and began recording/layering his music. Fellow musician, friend, and exceptional guitarist, Ryan Nelson, accompanied J. Vincent with his unique melodies and bluesy licks on "Damn the Same" and "If Time Stood Still
